SETI ?? - No, just adjusting the 6 & 2 meter antennas. By pointing the antennas skyward, the ground has minimul effect on the SWR and allows easy access to the gamma match on the 2 meter antenna and the T match on the 6 meter antenna. The 2 meter antenna is a Cushcraft 11 element beam with a gamma match I modified with a type N connector instead of the terminal posts. The 6 meter antenna is a Directive Systems 5 elememt beam with a T match.
View of the back yard from the far edge of the hay field. The TET Tribander and tower can be seen just above the pool. The G5RV runs from the top of the tower to the front of the barn just under the peak.
The tower (Rohn 25) with a TET 3 element Tribander (20, 15, &10) and a Ham IV rotator. It's been up for 3 weeks while waiting for the 6 meter beam.
I've taken down the tribander and set it on the roof and installed the 6 meter beam. What appears to be a mast is the homemade gin pole. I replaced the 3' mast with a 16' mast which is extended down through the tower and the rotator can be seen off to the side of the tower.
In this photo, I've raised the 6 meter beam up 6' and installed the 2 meter beam.
I've now raised the mast up another 6' and installed the tribander.
Another view of the 3 beams
Here I've raised the mast up another foot and installed the rotater. That is me in the photo and I am wearing a safety harness. I'm dressing the cables on the mast.
The weekend before the Jan 2002 VHF Contest, Dale - AF1T and I removed everything from the tower, moved the rotator to the bottom of the top section, replaced the mast with a 24' mast, added the 432 30 ele K1FO and the 222 16 ele K1FO to the array. Top to bottom is the 432, 6m, 2m, 222, and Tri-bander. It's been a warm winter here in NH where the temps have been in the high 40's in January and mid 30's in Feburary.
May 26, 2002 - I've just finished removing the tri-bander from the tower and put up a 55 element 1296 looper by Directive Systems. The white box just below the top of the tower is where the 1296 transverter is housed. There is only 12 feet of 9913 cable between the transverter and the antenna feed point giving only 0.5db of loss. There is room enough in the weatherproof box for a second transverter and two amplifiers plus there is room for a second weatherproof box. When the weather is clear, I'll have to take a better photo.
Aug 8, 2002 - Added second white box with 222/432 on right and 903/1296 on left plus the 47 ele Directive Systems 903 loop antenna.
