2004 ARRL EME Contest

Being active with WSJT, I thought it would be interesting to give EME somewhat of a serious try. Due to time constraints, I was not able to get anywhere near completion with my array design. The goal is to have 4 16ele K1FO crossed yagis and be able to switch polarity for either/both transmit and receive. I will be putting some photos of my construction project (have the H frame, the Azimuth and Elevation drives, tower, and thrust bearings complete. I have the material for the yagis, and I have to design/program the tracking computer.

In the meantime, Al Bardwell - NS1O and I decided to put together a quick setup for the 2004 contest. Here are some photos of our setup. (click on the images for a larger size photo.

The EME setup Here is the 32' 16 ele Cushcraft beam AF1T lent me for the effort. While the elevation drive is working, the pointing must be manual.

closeup of the antenna A closer view of the antenna and elevation drive. The drive is controlled by a DPDT switch mounted on a board. Azimuth controlled by two ropes. - At least it worked !!!
