primestar dish W1GHZ kindly lent me a spare 10G system for the 10G and up contest. After the contest was over, I obtained a primestar dish. I built an SMA to circular waveguide adapter for the Primestar feedhorn. I replaced the DSS dish with the Primestar dish and was able to hear sun noise with it. This is a photo taken during sun noise testing. The 3 pieces of Aluminum foil help me locate the sun as they act like a mirror for the sunlight and light up the feedhorn so I know where I'm pointing. As it turns out, you will notice a small shade at the base of the dish caused by the feedhorn when pointing to the sun.

W1FKF Don - W1FKF is who inspired me to work on the Primestar setup. Here is a little detail on his work. Either click on the photo or here.

NS1O 10g rig Due to my mechanical capabilities, NS1O asked me to "help" him build his 10GHz rover station. Presented here are some photos and some details on the construction of the rig. In the meantime, to the left is a photo of a DSS feedhorn modified for use with the DSS dish. At this point, I had cut the feedhorn off of the LNB and TIG welded a 1" cube aluminum block onto it and bored out the feedhorn to .795" which is about the dimension of a WC-80 circular waveguide. I'll present more photos and detail construction as I get the chance to construct another one.
